About
In the textile industry, Black Stain Removers are typically heavy-duty, solvent-based or acidic formulations designed to tackle tough "industrial" marks like grease, oil, carbon soot, and metal friction marks.
Safety
Chemical Nature
* Active Ingredients: These often contain a blend of surfactants, emulsifiers, and sometimes mild acids or chlorinated solvents (like Perchloroethylene or Trichloroethylene) to break down carbon-based stains.
* Corrosivity: Depending on the brand, these can be mildly acidic or alkaline. They are designed to be "tough," so they can damage delicate fibers if left on too long.
Health Hazards
* Skin Contact: These are highly concentrated. Direct contact can cause chemical burns, severe itching, and irritation. Always wear chemical-resistant gloves.
* Eye Contact: Splashes cause intense burning and potential damage to the cornea. Safety goggles are mandatory during application.
* Inhalation: Because they contain volatile solvents, breathing the fumes in a closed room can cause lightheadedness, headaches, and irritation to the respiratory tract.
* Toxicity: If the formula contains chlorinated solvents, long-term exposure can be harmful to the liver and kidneys.
Storage
Temperature: Store in a cool, dry place. Extreme heat can cause the chemicals inside to separate or build up pressure in the bottle, causing it to leak or "pop" when opened.
* Ventilation: Ensure the storage area has good airflow. The complex solvents in stain removers can create a heavy chemical odor in small, enclosed rooms.
* Container: Keep in the original, factory-sealed plastic containers. Do not transfer to unlabelled bottles. Ensure the cap is child-proof and tightly sealed to prevent the active solvents from evaporating.
* Segregation: Store away from food items and drinking water. Keep separate from strong oxidizers (like bleach) and highly flammable solvents like Acetone.
* Placement: Store on lower shelves to prevent accidental spills from height, which could result in the chemical splashing onto the face or body.
